A dedicated group of volunteers hung garland and wreaths, wrapped lights around the community Christmas tree and hook extension cords together, getting ready for the official lighting of the tree Friday, November 23, during Hamilton's "Christmas Stroll."

The Hamilton Downtown Association is creating a tableau with Christmas tree, presents, stockings and a small herd of deer.

The lighting of the tree at Main and 4th Street, next to Bell McCall Company, will be Friday at 6 p.m. Leading up to the lighting, the Montana A Capella Society will be strolling around Main Street from 4:30 p.m., singing carols. They will also sing at the tree lighting.

Santa Claus will make an appearance at the tree and then stroll to Chapter One Book Store, where he'll take your wish lists.

The Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department has put up the lighted snowflakes around the downtown street lights, and stores are busy decorating their windows for the season.
