Fairgrounds Road on the northeast edge of Hamilton has new sidewalks. Work continues this week on the road itself.

Starting Wednesday, one lane of the popular street will be closed each day from Kurtz Lane to Old Corvallis Road. Those who use the road are asked to find an alternative route during the construction period. The work is expected to last about seven days, according to the Department of Public Works.

Flaggers will provide traffic control for local traffic only. Those who live in the Stonegate area can avoid the construction by using Providence Way on the east edge of the dvelopment. It intersects with Kurtz Lane. The Fairgrounds office will still be accessed on Old Corvallis Road.

Since we're on the topic of roads, the Hamilton city council will be discussing roadwork in other parts of town at Tuesday's meeting August 6. A $66,700 contract with LS Jensen to chipseal various streets is on the agenda.
