Hamilton’s First Friday Sprinkled Pink with Mammo Men
The Mammo Men were out in force at Hamilton’s First Friday Oktoberfest on Main Street.
There are a dozen of the Bitterroot Valley guys who are dressing up in pink – some in drag – to raise money for the Mammography Fund at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital. They held a costume contest Friday night and, at every turn, were collecting money in their donation cans, hoping to raise the most by November 2nd, when, at Stevensville’s First Friday, the winner will be crowned.
The Hamilton First Friday was chilly, but smoke-free, with music by the band Joan Zen and late night openings by many of the downtown stores. The event was co-sponsored by the Hamilton Downtown Association, which is also holding a window decorating contest and businesses are competing to raise the most money in the month.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Aid for Mammography Fund, started by the Soroptomists, provides money for Ravalli County women who could not otherwise afford the screening.
