Hamilton’s Legion Park – The ‘Makeover” Continues
Hamilton’s Legion Park has been undergoing a complete facelift, brought on by dying trees and a new park plan developed in part by public input.
So far, the new handicapped accessible sidewalk has been poured. And now, the new playground equipment has been placed in its area in the northeast corner of the park at 2nd and Bedford. (see photo)
Unfortunately, the new shade structure, which will help provide protection from the sun, has been delayed at the manufacturer. Terry Cole said the footings for the shell have been poured, and once the material arrives, the construction will not take very long. However, delivery has been pushed back to the end of June or, at the latest, the middle of July.
The Tuesday at Twelve free concert series is expected to start June 19, and Cole said he had some ideas about shade for that event. The Tuesday at 12 organizers also have backup plans to present some of the concerts at the nearby Ravalli County Museum front lawn.
Legion Park remains closed to the public until further improvements are completed.
