The MAPS (Media Arts in the Public Schools) Media Institute has continued to grow with successes piling up each year.

Most recently, a MAPS crew of high school students completed a series of interviews with some high-powered creative folks at the Hatch Festival in Bozeman. Of course, the Hamilton-based institute now handles a vibrant afterschool program that, according to Laura Henderson, has a waiting list of those who'd like to participate.

As part of a national "Lights On - Afterschool Matters" celebration, the institute has having two Open House/Parents Nights to show off students' work and get the parents involved in some of the lessons.

The Tuesday, October 30, Open House will feature the Filmmaking students, and the Thursday, November 1, Open House will be shared by the Design students and Music students. Each open hour will from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The classrooms are in the Westview Center on West Main in Hamilton.

Recently, I talked with Abby, Emily, CW and Mary about the MAPS program on KLYQ's Event Show (Fridays at 8 a.m.)
