It threatened to rain, but it didn't.

There was a sliver of blue amongst the overcast, but it remained cloudy.

The band almost seemed too happy to play the blues, but they recovered.

The crowd grew and grew into one of the better "first week" groups we've had at Hamilton's annual free noon concert series - Tuesday at 12.

Blue Melon, a group of local musicians, had the crowd tapping their toes and laughing at some of their original lyrics concerning a lost flame named Lureen and her illicit rendezvous at the Dairy Queen.

The first Tuesday at 12 at the still-under-construction Legion Park on South 2nd went off without a hitch. There were a few sweaters and jackets with the breeze in 60 degree weather, but the smiles were plentiful.

The city's work on the park continues, with some shade structures due in with a couple of weeks. With the removal of the last old - but shady - trees, we are suggesting you bring sun umbrellas when you come to the park.
