Home Gutted by Morning Fire Northeast of Hamilton
Fire destroyed a home on Hamilton Heights Road northeast of Hamilton Saturday morning, January 5.
One person was at home at the time of the blaze, but suffered only minor injuries, according to initial reports. However, some pets in the home did not survive.
The Corvallis Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call, along with Montana Highway Patrol. Other departments called in on mutual aid were Hamilton, Pinesdale, and Victor.
Smoke from the house fire spread throughout the Bitterroot Valley in the morning air inversion. Hamilton Heights Road at the East Side Highway was closed for a time, while departments fought the blaze and brought more water from a pond nearby.
Investigation is just beginning on the incident.
