The official groundbreaking for the new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital will be Monday, November 25, at 11 a.m.

The unit will be built just west of the main entrance of the Hamilton hospital and will include three ICU rooms. The old ICU unit is one room, with curtains separating the beds. The new facility will allow more privacy and better environmental controls for critical care patients.

A community fundraising drive by the Daly Hospital Foundation is continuing with a new anonymous $800,000 matching donation, good for the next three years, according to Ron Kullick. He said this will double any donation made by the community to the ICU "Power of Health Initiative."

The current ICU was built in 1975 and no longer can meet the needs of the growing community.

The public is invited to the groundbreaking ceremony, and if you need more information call the Foundation at (406) 375-4674 or check their website.
