A recent Hamilton city election approved purchase of the abandoned National Guard Armory building and its surrounding land, which includes Claudia Driscoll Park.

The city had been using the bare land as a park under an agreement with the National Guard, and the election allowed outright purchase of the property. To celebrate, the city council is inviting residents to an ice cream party Thursday, August 10.

The ice cream will be served, starting at 6:30 p.m., until it's all gone. And, since it's Thursday, the Bitterroot Community Band will be having one of their summer concerts starting at 7:30 p.m. at the bandshell on the north end of the park.

The City council and city staff will be there to join in the celebration.
