The monthly Moon Walk, presented by the Bitterroot National Forest and partner organizations, will feature bats Saturday evening.
The Bat Moon will be hosted by the Bitterroot Water Forum and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
The location this month is on the north end of Hamilton at Hieronymus Park, next to the Bitterroot River Inn.
The evening will start about 7pm, but will continue a little longer than other Moon walks – until about 10pm – so that bat experts can show some of the winged creatures in their natural habitat by the pond at Hieronymus Park.
Bats are beneficial to the local ecosystem, munching insects such as mosquitos every evening. The moon walks are free to the public. The next moon walk will be September 1st – the Garden Moon.
