In Hamilton, Goofy Groups Go Golfing Ga-Ga!
When you go shopping downtown Hamilton Saturday, Feb 4, you'll have to let some folks "play through" in various shops and stores.
It's time for the annual Winter Mini-Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Hamilton Soroptimists. The round-robin start of the imaginative 18-hole course of putting greens is at 10am from the Hamilton Eagles Lodge on North 2nd Street. All the holes are within a block of Hamilton's Main Street and almost all the teams (usually consisting of four or five players each) walk the course. The police frown at them using golf carts.
You can sign up your team as a Traditional Team for $80 and win entirely on skill...or lose on the lack of it.
Or, for $55, your team can sign up to play "Caddyshack" rules, where bribing the hole monitors is required to win. Some scores come in actually at "minus" levels. All the money raised goes to the Soroptimists' many public projects benefiting women and children in the community.
At about 2pm, the teams gather back at the Eagles and wait for the scores. There are prizes for quite a few categories, including Best Costumes.
You've only a few days to get your team together. Call (406) 381-1335 to register or for more information. And be prepared to have fun!
