The ribbon cutting and grand opening of Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital's new Intensive Care Unit is Friday, January 23.

The $3 million addition to the Hamilton hospital includes three ICU rooms, an isolation ICU room and a Bariatrics ICU. The original plan grew to a total of over 9,000 square feet, taking in a remodeling project adjacent to the addition for new conference rooms.

Those new conference rooms will be put use Friday at 1 p.m. for opening ceremonies, with welcoming speeches at 1:15 p.m., followed by public tours of the individual patient rooms. Since the 70s, the ICU has been in one room across from the main nurses station, with curtains separating the three patient areas.

The Hospital Foundation has been raising money since 2013 through the "Power of Health Initiative," which has helped bring in over $2 million for construction.

To attend the grand opening, simply enter through the hospital's main entrance.
