Many have said there are two seasons in Montana -- winter and road construction. Well, here we are!
Crews are now working on the final sections of turning US 93 between Hamilton and Missoula into a four-lane highway. As of yesterday, March 8, there are three stop lights to allow trucks to cross the road both north and south of Victor. The construction crews are digging down, removing trees, adding fill material and continuing to move utility lines (which they've doing all winter).
Expect the delays to increase and the speeds to slow as the major work begins. They're not too bad yet, but I'm sure the traffic on the East Side Highway is increasing daily as folks detour around the area. My favorite detour route leaves US 93 at Woodside and goes along the East Side Highway until Bell Crossing. Just remember to watch out for lots of local agriculture traffic on that route. Be safe!
