Extradition procedures against Lester Vann Waters, Jr and Michael Keith Spell have begun.

The two Colorado men are being held in North Dakota in the kidnapping of Montana teacher Sherry Arnold, now presumed dead.

The Richland County Attorney expects a hearing within the next month. The 47-year-old Waters and 22-year-old Spell face aggravated kidnapping charges in the Jan 7 disappearance of Sherry Arnold. The 43-year-old Sidney High School teacher left her house for a morning run and disappeared.

At this time, however, Arnold's body has not been found, and authorities have not said she was presumed dead as early as last Friday, or what led to the arrest of Waters and Spell. Waters is originally from Florida, where he has an extensive criminal record.

Authorities have asked landowners to look for disturbed earth near wind-rows of mature trees in a six-county area of Montana and North Dakota, looking for a possible site where Arnold's body might have been buried.
