KLYQ Moves Up

Slowly, as businesses have moved in and out of the building, our sign has been pushed over and now — up! We’re happy to see our KLYQ 1240 sign at the top.
Our thanks to the guys at Bitterroot Tree Service for the bucket work. Of course, knowing Merlin – the owner of Bitterroot Tree Service – we’re surprised he didn’t play a trick on us and mount it upside down. Thanks for not doing that!
KLYQ started broadcasting in 1961. The original studio was on South Second Street, across from Tom’s News (remember?). After a fire upstairs from the station destroyed the building, KLYQ moved to the corner of US 93 and Golf Course Road. Then, in the late 80s, we moved to a large upstairs office on North 3rd Street. In the 2000s, Magic 96 FM, our sister station, moved to Missoula and became the Blaze at 96.3 FM and we downsized. Our next location was the Bitterroot River Inn, and now we’re back downtown at the Hamilton Business Plaza, with plenty of room for our station van and a new position for our sign! Talk about your mobile media!
