Lolo Park Has Land Plan
An addition of 24 acres to the Travelers’ Rest State Park in Lolo is being proposed by the Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks.
The acquisition would include land currently being leased for the park’s Holt Museum and Visitor Center. The $700,000 purchase would use $300,000 from the Land and Water Conservation Fund federal grant and money from the the Missoula County Open Space Bond Fund and the Traveler’s Rest Preservation and Heritage Association.
If the purchase is completed, it would allow FWP to expand a trail system, connecting the park to existing non-motorized trails.
The park is a proven Lewis and Clark campsite and an important Native American crossroads. It was established in 2001.
The public can sent written comments to Loren Flynn, Travelers’ Rest State Park, PO Box 995, Lolo MT 59847.
The EA can be viewed at the park, at the Region 2 FWP Headquarters in Missoula and FWP Headquarters in Helena or on-line. Comments are due by May 21.
