"Keep doing those snow dances!" is the word from Lost Trail Powder Mountain as they look for more snowfall in order to open for the season.

The warm weather and relatively dry conditions last month have delayed the opening of the popular ski and snowboarding area at the south end of the Bitterroot Valley. The runs were tentatively scheduled to open December 1. However, Mother Nature did not get the memo.

Currently, the Montana ski hill is hoping to open the weekend of December 9. But again, it all depends on the amount of snow that falls between now and then. The weather patterns have been causing any moisture to pass the Bitterroot Valley to the north and south. The December 1 NOAA Snotel site on Saddle Mountain reported only 3 inches of snow Thursday morning.

KLYQ will report the opening of Lost Trail when it happens. Until then, keep checking the Lost Trail website. Oh, and keep doing those snow dances!
