Maypoles Popular at Hamilton Farmers Market
With a cluster of kids helping, four Maypoles were the center of attention at Saturday’s initial 2014 Hamilton Farmers Market.
The kids’ activities have been a regular feature of the first May market for a number of years, and this year, the kids gathered first at American Legion Park for a celebration and a short parade to the Maypoles that were in the lawn of the Ravalli County Museum.
Dancers from Riverstreet Dance Theater wrapped the main pole in counter-rotating circles (see photo). Lots of young volunteers danced around the other three poles, while local musician Chip Jasmin provided the music with a button accordion.
The warm weather welcomed the vendors in the weekly market – providing everything from flowers to hot coffee to unique craft items. The Hamilton Farmers Market will be every Saturday through the summer and autumn on Bedford Street from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
