One oil refinery megaload has entered Idaho and another is now on its way across eastern Oregon.

The two large loads are heading to tar sands development in Canada and will cross the states of Idaho and Montana on their way. However, the Montana Department of Transportation has not yet issued a permit. Duane Williams said there are some details to work out, including negotiating traffic lights on intersections in the Bitterroot Valley.

The route of the two loads brings the convoys up US 93 to Lost Trail Pass. From there, the Omega-Morgan moving company would like to move through Ravalli County to Missoula and then up MT 200.

The first megaload – 380-feet, 450-tons in size – is about a week away from the top of the pass, weather permitting.
