The Hamilton and Corvallis High School volleyball teams lost their bids for placing in the State Class A tournament last weekend in Bozeman.
Hamilton lost to Miles City 3-0 on Thursday and was eliminated from the tournament by Polson 3-2 on Friday. Corvallis, meanwhile, lost to Billings Central 3-0 on Thursday, then on Friday trounced Whitefish 3-0, but fell to Miles City 3-1.
Winning the tournament was defending champion Lewistown, who defeated Billings Central 3-0 in championship. Belgrade took third and Miles City finished in fourth place.
Overall, for the season, both Hamilton and Corvallis had winning seasons and Corvallis made a strong comeback through the loser bracket at divisionals in order to join Hamilton in the trip to State.
In Class B volleyball action at Bozeman, Florence lost their first game against Townsend 3-2 on Thursday, defeated Cut Bank 3-0 on Friday, only to be eliminated by Choteau 3-0 in loser out action. Winning the Class B tournament for the third time in a row was Huntley Project. Red Lodge was second and Choteau was third.
