Once in a while, the Bitterroot Valley gets a fresh covering of snow in May. This week was one of those times.

Throughout the valley, the songbirds and other animals that have been thinking it's springtime were surprised.

But, according to Bob Danley of the Metcalf Wildlife Refuge, they are prepared to "weather the storm," so to speak.

Our report includes photos of birds in this snowfall and in the recent past. It has a home on our YouTube site (which has been seeing lots of visits to our visual report on the Roaring Lion Fire aftermath).
