A hiking and bike trail now exists from Hamilton to Lolo, and next year another section will complete the route to Missoula.

A $4 million grant from the federal Transportation Investment Generating Recovery (TIGER) program is funding much of the construction with help from Missoula City and County and other local partners.

The trail will connect Lolo with the Bitterroot Branch Trail in Missoula. The website contains maps of the project and consulting firms reports, along with questions and answers about the project and a timeline on construction.
