MSU’s Shakespeare in the Parks is Coming Back to Hamilton
The location will be different this year, but the popular Shakespeare in the Parks will return to Hamilton again this summer.
The annual tour by actors based at Montana State University in Bozeman includes the comedy "As You Like It." That play will be performed at the lawn of Sapphire Lutheran Homes August 19 at 6 p.m.
In a Montana twist, “As You Like It,” will be set in Butte during the years of the Copper Kings. Of course, Copper King Marcus Daly founded Hamilton, so it will be extra special for the audience to experience the actors' treatment of Shakespeare's play.
In its 42nd season, the troupe will perform 75 shows in 61 communities in Montana, Washington, Idaho, North Dakota and Wyoming. The company features 10 professional actors selected by national auditions. The mission of Shakespeare in the Parks is to bring quality live theatre to communities in mostly rural areas.
A majority of the performances, including the one in Hamilton, will have free admission.
