A grant from Humanities Montana will allow the Bitterroot Cultural Heritage Trust in Hamilton to create a traveling exhibit about the Nez Perce Trail. In an announcement this week, the Humanities Montana grant was one of eight given to cultural organizations in the state.
The $7,322 grant will allow the heritage trust to combine museum training with the creation of the exhibit. In the grant application, the Museum group said it would work with SeaReach, The Nez Perce Tribe, the Forest Service and the Humanities Montana Speakers Bureau.
The Bitterroot Valley has been home to many native Americans through its history.
