It will be at least another two weeks before boat owners can use the Lake Como Boat Launch.

Crews have been working this spring to improve the area. After major work last year, the new concrete boat ramp and a new wider boat dock are ready to go for this summer season. Trees killed by the Mountain Pine Beetle are being removed to reduce safety hazards.

However, on the south side of the lake, the boat ramp entrance road and the parking area still need work, according to Tod McKay of the Bitterroot National Forest. He said that 20 additional parking spaces for boat trailers and vehicles will be available when the project is completed.

The popular Lake Como area has seen continual improvements over the past seasons, with new camping areas and x-country ski trails. The Darby Ranger District estimates 150,000 people visit the lake annually.
