No Damage Estimate Yet on Hamilton Heights House Fire

Corvallis Fire Chief Jim Knapp said the two story wood-frame home was gutted by the Saturday morning fire. He estimated the size of the structure at over 4,000 square feet. The fire apparently started near a carport at the rear of the house, but investigation is continuing.
The homeowner was home at the time of the blaze Saturday morning and suffered minor burns. However, his dog did not survive the blaze. A Montana Highway Patrolman, first on the scene, said the fire was growing quickly.
Firemen from Corvallis, Hamilton, Pinesdale and Victor all sent trucks to the blaze, which closed the Hamilton Heights Road for a time Saturday.
