Non-Profits Meet at Fairgrounds – Event Scheduling Ideas

Representatives of a large number of area non-profit groups heard ideas about event promotion and calendar scheduling at a meeting Thursday.

Colin Hickey and Molly Bradford of Missoulaevents.net addressed the meeting of the Ravalli County Non-Profit Partnership, a project of the Bitter Root RC&D.

Hickey and Bradford first presented tips on successful event organization and planning. They have had experience with events such as Out to Lunch and River City Roots Festival in Missoula. Their events website is shared with other media webistes and is comprehensive with color coding for various types of events, and lots pf page views.

Various groups expressed frustration with large number of tradional media and electronic websites they had to use to get the word out about their event. Hickey and Bradford suggested their Missoula events template be used for a central events calendar for the Bitterroot Valley. The template has been purchased by other organizations in the state.

The attending group representatives also had a chance to list their upcoming events for the year on a large calender display at the Fairgrounds Event Center. That gave some groups a chance to see what other events were scheduled at or near the same time as their activity.
