Over $17,000 Earned by Mammo Men
An incredibly successful fund drive by the Bitterroot Valley’s “Mammo Men” brought in over $17,000 to kick off a month of fundraising for a mammogram fund at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital.
This is the second year for the Mammo Men competition – allowing men to show their support for the fight against breast cancer. The winner of the drive was Matt Guzik of the Stock Farm Club, who raised $9,000 in his pink gorilla suit.
The First Friday event in Hamilton brought together the Hamilton Downtown Association, the Soroptimists and Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital for an evening of special sales (where portions of the proceeds went to the fund), live music with Tom Catmull and the Clerics, and lots of sidewalk activities in a “pedestrian only” area of downtown Hamilton. Money raised this month goes to the Soroptomist-sponsored Mammography Fund at the hospital – which allows financially in-need women in the county get needed mammograms.
A flash mob presentation of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” crept into the festivities, too, organized by Groovs Dance Studio.
