UPDATE: Drug Investigation Shooting Near Gold’s Gym in Missoula – Police Officer and Suspect Wounded [AUDIO]

UPDATE 6:00 A.M. Thursday, November 28

Two individuals are in the Missoula County jail charged with attempted deliberate homicide and felony robbery. They are Joshua Lee Robinson, 25 and Jazmine Beehler, 22. Both are involved with the undercover drug sting in front of Gold's Gym that ended with an unidentified plain-clothes police officer and the drug suspect being shot. It is not known at this time if Robinson is actually the suspect who was shot during the incident. Another individual was picked up by authorities on Mullan Road near the Hellgate Trading Post late Wednesday afternoon.

Bitterroot Forest Areas Opened

The weather is allowing the Bitterroot National Forest Supervisor to reopen the closed areas at the Gold Pan Complex in the south end of the valley.

Supervisor Julie King lifted all closures this week, including the trails and roads in the Frank Church and Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness areas

Gold Pan Closure Area Reduced

More access for the public is the reason for a condensed closure around the Gold Pan Complex of forest fires in the West Fork Ranger District.

Bitterroot National Forest Supervisor Julie King signed the order this week, which moves the boundary back to the Hells Half Road on the Magruder Corridor (see map)

Magruder Road Opens

Storms Thursday September 5 dropped about a half inch of rain on the Gold Pan Complex of forest fires and allowed the Magruder Corridor to reopen.

The road passes through the wilderness and connects the West Fork of the Bitterroot Valley in Montana with Elk City and Dixie, Idaho

Gold Pan Fire at 42,000 Acres

The Gold Pan complex of fires in the south end of the Bitterroot Valley grew over 1,000 acres this past weekend.

The growth was mainly north and east as the fire, which started in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, moved farther into the Blue Joint drainage near McGregor Creek and Nez Perce Pass, with some spotting across Jack the Ripper Creek
