In a last minute decision, ESPN decided that they might earn some new friends and maybe more money by adding all eight Subdivision Football playoff games this weekend to their Pay-Per-View service.
Originally, they had planned to only send the games through its internet channel ESPN3, which is carried by very few internet service providers in the state. It amounted to a virtual statewide blackout of the games.
After a telephone and e-mail campaign, which included both Montana US Senators, ESPN announced Tuesday that Montana and Montana State's games will be included in their playoff package this weekend on many satellite and cable systems in Montana. It's called ESPN GamePlan and is available for the suggested retail price of $24.95. That includes 8 football games, according to company officials.
STILL, the least expensive way to enjoy the game is on the radio - KGVO 1290 on the AM side of things, and 96.3 The BLAZE on the FM. Just turn on the radio, save your money. Pregame on KGVO is 10am Saturday Dec 3. Kickoff is just after Noon on KGVO and THE BLAZE.
Oh, by the way, there are still tickets to the Grizzly game in Missoula. Check Griztix.com for availability -- at about the same price as the TV broadcast.
