A White Pelican was caught on camera during a "take-out" meal at one of the larger ponds at the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge last week.

The pelican had just snapped up a small fish from the pond and soon it would be in the bird's stomach.

The American White Pelican is often found in the western and mid-western U.S. and they spend winters in the south part of the continent and in Mexico and Central America.

KLYQ 1240 AM Radio presents a Metcalf Wildlife Journal every Thursday morning at 8:05 a.m. with reports from the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge near Stevensville. We also have many of those reports at our YouTube channel.
