Penn State Football Stadium – Name It For Paterno? — Survey

A year ago, it seemed inevitable that Penn State would eventually name its football stadium after legendary coach Joe Paterno.
But a lot has changed since then, due to child sex abuse allegations levied against longtime Paterno assistant coach Jerry Sandusky. Because of the Sandusky scandal, Paterno, who succumbed to lung cancer in January at age 85, was fired from the head coaching position he held for nearly 46-years for “failure of leadership.”
However, according to a Quinnipiac University poll of 1,300 Pennsylvania residents, 46 percent would still like to see the name of Penn State’s Beaver Stadium changed to honor Coach Paterno. Forty percent said they wouldn’t and 13 percent either had no opinion or hadn’t made up their mind yet.
