Poetry Will Be Part of The Fair

When Dominic Farrenkopf came up with the winning theme in the “Pick the Ravalli county Fair theme Contest” this year, his mind already was working on some rhyming couplets that would describe the annual event at the fairgrounds in Hamilton.
And, when he got together with the fair staff, a new category was added to the fair premium book -which guides exhibitors through the rules to entering everything from pies to 4-H projects.
The first ever Ravalli County Fair Peotry Contest is on Page 4 of the book – available all over the Bitterroot Valley. There are different age categories and and subject categories, and as Dominic says, there will be prizes. The winning poems will be presented at the Entertainment Corral Stage, also known as the KLYQ Free Stage, at 4:30 on the Saturday of the fair.
Poetry entries are already coming in and you can enter on-line at the Ravalli County Fair website, too. Grab a premium book, though, and take a gander at the rules on Page Four.
By the way, here’s Dominic’s fair-themed poem, as he presented it on our live Friday interview program – The Event Show – on KLYQ.
