Birdwatchers in the Bitterroot Valley were lucky to see a Great Egret at the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge earlier this year.

However, this isn't the only play the big white bird can be found. Photographer Mike Daniels snapped this photo of an Egret on the Oregon coast this month, north of Lincoln City.

The bird is a bit smaller than the Great Blue Heron. The Great Egret is not usually found in Montana, but they breed over on the Pacific coast and spend the winter months in Mexico and South America.
