Pumpkin Pie Puppy Chow Recipe
One of my kids’ favorite snacks is puppy chow. No, not actual dog food, but a delicious cereal snack. There are many different kinds of puppy chow, from peanut butter and Nutella, to peppermint bark and Reeses.
This isn’t the healthiest snack, but it is a fun treat for my boys. I just can’t resist the pumpkin flavor. Pumpkin Hershey’s kisses can only be found a few months out of the year, so I have to take advantage of them while I can get them.
Pumpkin Pie Puppy Chow
1 bag pumpkin spice Hershey’s Kisses, peeled
1 tablespoon coconut oil
8 cups Chex cereal
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice plus a little more to sprinkling
Pour all eight cups of Chex mix into a large bowl and set aside.
Throw one tablespoon of pumpkin pie spice and all the powdered sugar into a gallon-size freezer bag, shake until combined and then set aside.
Fill a medium sized pot one-third full with water. Place a glass bowl on top of the pot, then turn the burner on high. Add the bag of peeled pumpkin kisses and the coconut oil. Stir constantly until the kisses melt completely. Right away, pour the melted kisses onto the Chex cereal and stir until every piece is coated.
Scoop the coated cereal into the bag of powdered sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Shake vigorously until every piece is coated. Pour back into the bowl and taste. If you want more pumpkin pie flavor, add more spice until you reach the desired taste.
