The forest fire smoke caused cancellation of the Ravalli County Museum's September Cowboy Music and Poetry Afternoon lawn concert. So, the cowboys and cowgirls are gathering for a Christmas concert Friday, December 1.

The same performers that usually show up at the September event will be the Christmas concert, along with some new talents. And, it's inside the Hamilton museum! (Warmer there.)

The audience is invited to come at 6 p.m. and have some light refreshments, mingle and check out the silent auction of specially decorated Christmas trees. The annual auction gets beautiful trees to families or groups who might not have them for the season.

In the gift shop, special holiday discounts are available on some great history books and more.

The music, poetry (and even some yodeling) starts at 6:30 p.m. in the main display area, upstairs in the building.

Tickets are $10 for Historical Society members and $12 for non-members. Young folks aged 9 to 17 are $5 and those 8 years old and younger are free.

Looking ahead to the new year, the museum is NOT having the Ernst Peterson "Photograph Montana" competition this year as they "re-focus" the event. Tamar Stanley invites the public to make suggestions on how the competition and exhibition should be, when it comes back in 2019.

Get ready for a new display on Montana caves!
