The past will be real again at the Ravalli County Museum Thursday, May 16, and Friday, May 17.

Thursday evening, a free public performance of the epic Old English poem "Beowulf" will be presented by Dave Caserio. The Humanities Montana program will include a portion of the poem in Anglo-Saxon in "a high energy, audience interactive performance," according to a Humanities Montana news release. Following the theatrical excerpt of the poem, an open-ended discussion of Beowulf and the cultural and historical questions it invokes will top off the evening.

Friday evening, renowned musicians from Seattle and San Francisco will perform a concert of Baroque music - featuring the music of Telemann, Bach, Marais, Uccellini and more. There will also be a new work from contemporary composer Adam Haws.

Performing will be Linda Melsted, Curtis Foster and JungHae Kim. The music will be performed on actual wooden instruments based on instruments used during that time period.

The concert tickets are $25 each and are available at the Ravalli County Museum, the Music Box, Chapter One Book Store and Mountain Music in Hamilton. BRVHS members get a $5 discount on the tickets. The presentation is co-sponsored by the Ravalli County Museum and Bitterroot Baroque.
