In its 33rd year, the Ravalli County Museum's "Bitter Root Day" celebrates not only the Montana State Flower, but the culture that surrounds the little pink bloom. It has been very important to Native American people.

Saturday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the day includes members of the Salish Tribe as honored guests. Of course, the Hamilton Farmers Market will be in full bloom, so to speak, with additional vendors for this Saturday.

Events planned include: cooking wild game stew, a Jerky contest, the Lewis & Clark Garden and more.

You can even buy your own bitter root seeds and try your hand at growing your very own garden of bitter roots.
