As part of the special free Thursday evening openings and speaker series at the Ravalli County Museum, kayaker and scientist Doug Ammons will be featured at 6 p.m. November 29.

In a museum news release, Doug is described as a world class expedition kayaker and will present an evening of photos and insights, showing how rivers and geology shape both the physical world and the way humans interact with it. The program is called "Riverscapes."

Ammons has completed extreme solo whitewater descents and international expeditions, and was named one of the "Top ten game changers" in adventure since 1900 by Outside Magazine. A PhD scientist, Ammons is also a keen observer of the human relationship with the natural world.

The Ravalli County Museum, operated by the Bitterroot Valley Historical Society, has planned more Thursday evening events during December.
