Ravalli County Prepares for Possible Flooding
Weekend snowstorms, followed by temperatures into the 70s, are causing local officials to worry about flooding.
The streamflow forecasts have been revised to be near flood stage by Saturday May 17 at both the Conner and the Bell Crossing Bitterroot River gauges.
Meanwhile, Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman and Emergency Management Director Erik Hoover are expecting poor water drainage conditions elsewhere in the valley on other streams.
People worried about flooding in their area should contact their local fire department. That’s because in Ravalli County, sandbags and sand have been stockpiled at each fire department.
Those are Florence, Three Mile, Stevensville City and Rural, Victor, Pinesdale, Corvallis, Hamilton, Darby, Sula, West Fork and Painted Rocks Volunteer Fire Departments.
If you have questions, the Ravalli County Office of Emergency Management is at 375-6655.
Of course, if there is an immediate flooding danger, call 911.
