Friday, July 11, volunteers in 24 teams will walk all night into Saturday morning for the annual Ravalli County Relay for Life.

The fundraiser for the American Cancer Society will be at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds, moving back to Hamilton from the Corvallis Events Center track.

The facilities at the fairgrounds will allow better protection from the weather and the walking course will be marked out in the center of the property toward the north end.

All the usual activities are planned, starting Friday evening:

  • 6 p.m. - Opening Ceremonies
  • 6:15 p.m. - Survivors' Lap
  • 10 p.m. - Luminaria Ceremony
  • 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. - Overnight Activities and music
  • 8 a.m. Saturday morning - Closing Ceremonies
  • Organizers like the fairgrounds location for another reason - setup will be easier, using booth areas under the grandstands. Also, the neighbors won't be bothered by the overnight activities.

The public is invited to come see the activities, including the Luminaria Ceremony, which honors those who have been touched by cancer.
