Following hours of discussion and comments from the public, the Ravalli County Commissioners Thursday voted to place County Treasurer Valerie Stamey on Administrative Leave with pay.

County Attorney Bill Fulbright said that an investigation will be conducted into Stamey's actions since her appointment last year and her background. Stamey's accusations of corruption by county officials will also be investigated.

Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman was directed to give her the notice of Administrative Leave, but Stamey had already left the County Administration building. Hoffman said his officers have "secured" her office.

Fulbright said a comprehensive audit will be done by an independent third party, not associated with county government.
