For the second year in a row, the Ravalli County Treasurer has resigned. Marie Keeton, who won election to the post last fall, is leaving the position at the end of August. She cited personal family reasons for the resignation.

Keeton has been in the treasurer's office since the 1990s and was appointed Ravalli County Treasurer last year, after newly elected Mary Hudson-Smith resigned only months into her term. Keeton served as treasurer for the remainder of 2012 and ran for office on the Republican ticket last fall, winning that election.

The Ravalli County Commission received Keeton's resignation letter last week and will start the process of replacing her this week. Whoever is appointed will serve as treasurer until the 2014 election.
