This year's Ravalli County Relay for Life starts Friday evening, June 29, at 6pm and the walkers will complete the effort at 8am Saturday morning.

The all-night event raises money for the American Cancer Society - both nationally and locally. The teams have already been raising money and there's fierce competition as to who will raise the most.

One of the main events of the evening is the lighting of the luminaria - small paper bags with names of people who have been lost to cancer or are battling it. That ceremony, including the reading of names on the bags will start at 10pm.

The public is invited to come and watch and walk with the teams. There will also be opportunities to support the teams - Rocky Mountain Bank will have two raffles, the Bitterroot Misfits have Italian Sodas for sale during the relay, the Hamilton Teachers and Friends have t-shirts for sale and will have a 50/50 raffle during the relay.

KLYQ's Steve Fullerton will be the M.C. for much of the night again this year. And Bubba the Sound Guy will be doing his best on the PA system.
