A new home will be built in Stevensville.

Habitat for Humanity of Ravalli County is breaking ground Wednesday, April 24, for the first Habitat home in the Stevensville area. The Velasco-Coombes family was chosen from the applicants to join with the local organization in building their new home at 105 Mission Street, south of the Stevensville Senior Center.

The Habitat group has built homes in Corvallis and Hamilton recently. This is the first one in Stevensville. The property also is large enough that a second home can be constructed. Finding a family for that home will begin after this one is completed.

The official ground-breaking ceremony will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, with refreshments provided by Exit Realty of the Bitterroot.

Volunteers are always needed to build these houses, and registration forms and job descriptions will be available at the ceremony.
