Everybody's talking about it. High water. The experts are cautioning that the valley's streams and creeks and the Bitterroot River will be running up toward record highs this year.
The photo here is from a few years ago, when the river was almost bankful in Hamilton.
Sandbags have already been distributed to valley fire departments. If you live by the river or a suddenly swift-moving stream and are getting a little nervous, check with your local firemen about sandbags.
This is a great time to talk to the neighbors about flood preparation, too.
KLYQ will be keeping you up-to-date with information from the Ravalli County Sheriff's Office and the Office of Emergency Services.
You can watch the water rise at the two automated river gauges on the Bitterroot River. We have one south of Darby and one at Bell Crossing north of Victor. You can access them through the National Weather Service website. And, we'll soon be linking to them from this website.
