Reindeer and Caribou – Metcalf Journal Topic for Christmas
That’s not a reindeer in the photo. It’s a mule deer, which is a much smaller animal. We have plenty of them in the valley, but no caribou or reindeer.
In our weekly Metcalf Wildlife Journal, Bob Danley talks about the differences between Caribou and Reindeer, both closely related and much larger than our little deer.
Our audio journal is heard Thursdays at 8:05 a.m. on KLYQ 1240 AM in Hamilton, Montana. We also have quite a selection from the series on our YouTube site. We always include photos of all sorts of animals and scenes from the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge. Visit the refuge by Stevensville during the holidays and see for yourself!
