The unofficial total from the 2011 Ravalli County Relay for Life is a little over $41,000.
The effort started at about 5:30pm Friday June 24 with a barbeque and the Survivors' Lap began the overnight walk at about 7pm. Hundreds of people helped raise money for the fight against cancer in the American Cancer Society sponsored walk, which continued through the night until 8am Saturday morning June 25.
Candles in decorated paper bags lined the track at the Corvallis Event Center during the luminary ceremony at 10pm. The candles burned into the early morning hours, honoring those touched by cancer.
This year's Ravalli County Relay was an official Pacesetter Event, according to ACS officials, and the top team was Farmers State Bank. The best campsite award went to Educators and Friends, and the Spirit Stick award was won by Valley Drug.
At the end of the Relay, the Knights of Columbus served up a breakfast of sausage, eggs and pancakes.
