Saddle and Stud Fires Move East

The fires are being managed for resource benefits and crews are in place at Horse Creek Hot Springs, Oreana Lookout, Gattin Ranch and a small mine in the Horse Creek drainage for possible structure protection. The fires in Idaho are expected to move into Montana on the Bitterroot National Forest. The fire has been producing smoke in the south end of the Bitterroot Valley and a general hazy condition throughout the valley.
Fire danger throughout western Montana has been reaching the Very High level in recent hot, dry days.
