Schmidt is New Deputy Regional Forester

Tom Schmidt has been selected as the Northern Region’s Deputy Regional Forester. US Forest Service Regional Forester Leslie Weldon made the announcement March 15 and said Schmidt will start work almost immediately.
He will be helping in Renewable Resources, Fire and Aviation, Ecosystem Management and Planning and other divisions. Schmidt was Forest Supervisor for the Hiawatha National Forest in Michigan and has been Forest Supervisor at the Ochoco National Forest and the Crooked River National Grasslands.
The Northern Region includes north Idaho, North Dakota, Montana and parts of South Dakota. Northern Region headquarters are in Missoula.
